Children's Issues In Divorce

The major issues that involve children in divorce are custody, support and visitation.  Theses are the big three issues that must be resolved in every divorce case involving children.
Custody can be the most contested issue in a divorce case.  Custody can be shared for decision making or sole for decision making.  Physical custody will be granted to one spouse with the non-custodial spouse having some form of visitation.
The next hurdle involving children is child support.  Child support will be granted to the physical, custodial parent in accordance with the payor’s ability to pay.  Child support can also include medical coverage, life insurance, daycare expenses and extra-curricular expenses for the child.
Finally, visitation can get contested.  Often, the non-custodial parent will seek extended visitation for holidays and vacations.  The scheduling, coordinating and relationship of the parties will have a great effect on whether visitation proceeds smoothly.
